Following distance: what the rule actually says

Yucatán’s Reglamento sets no number of meters or seconds for following distance. It requires keeping a safety distance that guarantees two things: (a) that you can stop in time if the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, and (b) that a third vehicle can overtake and fit between your vehicle and the one ahead. This second requirement does not apply in military columns or funeral processions. The distance must be adapted to vehicle size, speed, traffic, weather, visibility, and the state and width of the road.
