The ALTO sign: full stop and safe restart

At a corner with a stop (ALTO) sign you must bring your vehicle to a complete stop, without encroaching on the sidewalks, safety zones, cycling infrastructure or, where applicable, the building lines.

Before moving again, yield to pedestrians and cyclists who are crossing or have already begun to cross. Then, without invading the cross street’s lane, make sure no vehicle is approaching, and only then proceed, avoiding stopping inside the intersection (Fuente: Reglamento de la Ley de Tránsito y Vialidad del Estado de Yucatán, Artículo 242).
