Preferential roads when nothing controls the intersection
At intersections not controlled by agents, signs or traffic lights, the preferential road is: the one where a higher speed is permitted, over the lower-speed one; the wider street over the narrower; and the asphalted or oiled road over the unpaved one. Drivers on a street that dead-ends at a blind “T” intersection must yield to traffic on the cross street.
In a traffic incident, the preference ceases to exist if the driver on the preferential road broke a provision of the Reglamento that gives them responsibility in the incident (Fuente: Reglamento de la Ley de Tránsito y Vialidad del Estado de Yucatán, Artículo 247).
