Continuous right turn on a red light

In Yucatán the right turn is “continuous”: you may turn right even when the light is red, with caution. Drive in the right lane from about one block or 50 meters before the turn; on a red light, stop, look both ways for pedestrians or vehicles crossing, respect their right of way, and finish the turn in the right lane.

The continuous right turn on red is NOT obligatory: if the driver ahead in your lane intends to go straight, those behind who want to turn right must wait for the green light (Fuente: Reglamento de la Ley de Tránsito y Vialidad del Estado de Yucatán, Artículo 251).
