Leaving momentarily vs abandonment and flight
In an accident with injured or deceased people, the driver may leave the scene only momentarily, and only to request immediate help for the injured and to notify their insurance company so it comes to the scene. The driver must return before the involved vehicle is removed or the victim is picked up — or else turn themselves in to the authority that took cognizance of the facts.
If the driver does not return (or turn themselves in), their conduct is considered abandonment of the victim and/or flight (abandono de víctima y/o fuga). Fuente: Reglamento de la Ley de Tránsito y Vialidad del Estado de Yucatán, Artículo 399.
